The mission of the Plattsburgh Public Library is to serve the educational, cultural, recreational, and inspirational needs of every citizen of the City of Plattsburgh. The library believes that only through wide dissemination of knowledge and ideas can we continue to maintain the well-informed citizenry which is essential to the preservation of our democratic heritage. The library services a dual role as a community library and as a central reference library for libraries serving the Clinton, Essex, and Franklin county area.

COMPUTER USE
Computers are available for use by anyone with a valid Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System card in good standing. Use is first come, first served, and limited to one hour.
Acceptable Internet Use Policy (2011 – under review)
PRINTING & FAXING
Printing is available for 15¢ per page for black and white and 40¢ per page for color.
Faxing is available for $1.00 per page.
We take cash or check.
FREE WIRELESS
The library’s public access network is called “City-Public.” No username or password is required. Like most public hotspots, the library’s wireless network is not secure. You should not transmit sensitive data over any open wireless connection.
You cannot print directly from your own device. The library’s wireless network provides internet access only. However, you can print from our public computers.
FEES
Patrons will be charged for lost or damaged items. The fee will depend on the type of material. Late fines are reserved for discount passes only.
Fees must be paid by cash or check.
Patrons’ accounts will be blocked if they have fines of $10.00 or more or a lost item on their account.
EXAM PROCTORING
We understand the need for proctored exams for a variety of reasons. With advance notice, schedules permitting, and if the conditions required for the exam can be met, we are available to proctor exams.
